How much to fit a gas oven?
Question:I had a quote from a Corgi registered Plumber/Gas Man to fit a new oven and they wanted £150 including VAT (I live in the South of England just in case location has an effect on price). Is that right? That's almost as much as the oven cost!
Do they have to be Corgi registered and is that way I'm getting such a high quote?
Answers:
Depends on the work required. A lot of gas cookers have a "push" fit connection to the gas supply so installing it is easy. The catch is that new ovens don't come with the tube between the cooker and the connector, enter the Corgi guy. £150 is a bit pricey but that may just be a general quote depending on the complexity of the job. However with gas you can't be too careful. Make sure the installer really is Corgi registered, there's a lot of fly boys about.
Gawd, that isn't cheap. But yes, they do have to be Corgi Registered.
shop around in the yellow pages and ring a few corgi registered fillers. yes it does have to be a corgi registered fitter by law. but it sounds about right. i paid £130 for mine and i live in the midlands.
check your local newspaper for somebody.it will be much cheaper.i did and was charged £45,and he was corgi registered.
Yes that's probably about right. It has to be a Corgi registered fitter. I recently had a new unit fitted and there were all kinds of issues raised because of the location in my kitchen. I would not have realised this had the fitter not explained what was involved.
There is fit & There's fit, Fit with no materials, test & commision £52.40 INC VAT. Then there's fit with materials & adjustments, test, & commission, which could be £150, Yes they do have to be registered, if it is paid work, Not if you do it yourself. I'm registered & in the south.
TILL SOMEONE DIES!! It's easy.
Do it yourself! Honest, its as easy as changing a light bulb.
Although you might have to buy a rubber pipe for about a tenner. Better than paying 150 quid,ok.
yep they need to be corgi registered and they will quote whatever they want
