I have an evaporative cooling system in my house that doesn't cool anything. Help please! I need suggestions!

Question:Please if anyone has any ideas on what to do to get this thing to cool my house I would greatly appreciate it.

You didn't say if you have ever had one of these before or not or what you have or haven't done to make it work.

Evaporative coolers work on the principle of water evaporation cooling the air as it passes through wet pads of the cooler. You need to make sure that there is a water supply to the cooler. There is usually plastic or copper tubing that runs from a water source (water tap or faucet on outside of house) up to the cooler, make sure it has been turned on and that there is about 3" or so of water in the bottom of the cooler unit. There should also be pads that the water soaks into in each of the sides of the unit. A pump inside pumps the water up from the reservoir in the bottom up to the top of the pads and wets them down. Then the blower fan moves the air through the pads and cools it by the water evaporating. Make sure you have windows or doors open at the far ends of the house to allow the air to pass into the house and cool the air as it moves to the open windows and doors at the further ends of the house.

You're new to evaporative cooling aren't you?

Open the windows, preferrably at the farthest distance from the vents.

Closing the windows does not "trap" the cool air like people want to think, all it does is prevent air flow that's needed for an evaporative cooler to work.

This is not an air conditioner, it's an evaporative cooler. It's a completely different animal.
