Is there anyway to renew Velcro without replacing it?

Question:

Answers:
No, I'm afraid not. Velcro is made up of loops of material on one side (the soft side) and hooks on the other (the hard, rough side). When velcro doesn't work well anymore, the loops are probably all torn up and are no longer loops really and/or the hooks side are not really hooks anymore. There really is no way to "renew" like you hoped. Sorry.

You could try some new velcro pieces on the old stuff to see which one is worn out more and just replace that side, but it might be better just to replace both sides with new stuff as it will work better in the long run.

If the hook and loop tapes are just clogged up with lint, you can pick it out using a tooth pick. Otherwise, it's pretty inexpensive to replace. Using a seam ripper, remove the stitching holding the old stuff in place, cut the new pieces to fit, stitch around the edges. Done!
