thwn is water proof and will do good..what do you need water proof wire for ...also any splices made that will be under water will need to be inside waterproof connectors such as the ones for submersible pumps...submersible pump wire is also water proof and does not need anything put around it to aid in waterproofing..it also can be buried without being in conduit

The most common is THWN which is a stranded copper wire with an extra insulator that prevents water corrosion to the primary insulator. If you are wanting to submerge the wire then you would be needing a cable assembly with an "aqua" shield. Basically this is several wires inside a thick rubber water barrier. An electrical supply house can get you what you need just tell them specifically what you need it for.
