Baxi Bermuda boiler 551,no hot water..?

Question:Just moved into an old property with a back boiler of the type above and after having a new oven connected up,after turning the gas off at the main tap,i am left with no hot water.Tried lighting the boiler pilot as per instructions but will not stay alight and also the switch in the airing cupboard for the boiler when turned on trips all the electric on that circuit. In desperate need of help,2 kids no hot water not good.

Answers:
if pilot isn't staying on it will require new thermocouple or gas valve(more likely to be thermocouple). On your type of system i would say that its the pump that's tripping circuit, either that or burnt flex in behind back boiler(very common). it will be one of 2 things. You can get a fixed price repair from British gas for £155. Definitely worth it. good luck

If it is a rental get the owner on the phone. If you bought it, see if your real estate agent has a contractor in mind that could set you up for a resonable cost.
If it is rented follow advice above, if your own house get a CORGI registered heating engineer.
what gas company are you with then british gas or any other company phone them up and ask them to come and have a look at it
Leave it alone, you have no idea what you are doing.
Join b gas heating maintenance its about 15 quid a month, they will check the whole system for you and parts and labour are included.
If your pilot light will not stay lit, it means the thermocouple needs replacing. Can't help with the electrics problem except to say you must have a bad connection on the boiler switch maybe.
Did you get a corgi registered engineer to connect your cooker up? If you did he should have purged the rest of the appliances to ensure no air was in the gas system and relit all the pilots. It could be a faulty thermocouple but it seems a coincidence that this happened after the person installed the cooker. keep the gas valve down for a while and keep on at the ignition. it is probably air coming out at the moment and will take a while to push through.
check switch is definitely for boiler and nothing else, does it feed the new oven if it does turn that off and try again. it's bad luck if gas as been turned off and then electrical fault appears but these things do happen.
check gas is back on fully for pilot.
good luck
