What kind of vaccum bag can you use in a Kirby?
Question:my mom needs to replace the bag in our *old* Kirby and wants to know if she can use a different kind of bag. if so, which kinds? *like brand names and maybe where to get them?

I also have a Kirby. I purchase generic bags from a vaccum repair store. Generic bags and shampoos are way cheaper. Check the yellow pages under vaccums, phone and ask the dealers if they carry Kirby parts and or the generic bags. You live in Maine, it shouldn't be a problem.
I think you should search for a Kirby distributor in your area. I don't think you can interchange non Kirby bags for your vacuum. I know that sucks, I have one too, but they work great! Hope that helps you. :-)
I've only heard that Kirby bags fit into a Kirby vacuum. That is probably how they can keep the money for their items all to themselves. We have always had a terrible time getting things for a Kirby. That's why we got rid of it and bought something that we can purchase things for close by. Kirby tries to corner the market on things for their machines. You could search the Internet.
