Why is the dishwasher soap not desolving and leaving film on my dishes?
Question:The soap dispensers open up and leave the soap on the bottom of the machine.Needless to say, we have constant film left on all of our dishes and nothing seems to get clean. The model is a GE POTSCRUBBER 1420.

Make sure that you don't have a large item blocking the water source in your dishwasher. Most times, there is a hole in the back of the dishwasher where it shoots water straight through to the door where the soap dispenser is. If you have a large pan or dish blocking the path of the water, it can't rinse the dispenser clean, thus leaving soap on the door. Also, if there is a little door on your soap dispenser, I suggest trying to leave it open when you start the machine. Sometimes, if it doesn't open at the right time, it can delay the washing process. Depending on what type of soap you are using, I would stick with liquid detergent or the tabs of soap. Powdered detergents are really hard to dissolve, and they require a very high temperature of water.
Oh do I have the thing for you.
Try ELECTRISOL TABS. They are great. You can find them at wallmart. DO NOT GET ANYTHING BUT ELECTRISOL.
No lemon no ball of what ever they added to it no nothing. Just ELECTRISOL. They are awsome.
It sounds like your water is not getting hot enough, or maybe your water is restricted. There should ba a filter on the floor of your dishwasher that needs to be cleaned, we searched the web for the exploded view of our unit and it was really easy to open up and clean, Made a huge difference
I went thru this myself. It turns out that certain areas have hard water. You pretty much have to either keep changing detergents until one works for your type of water. The only alternative is to get a water softener system put into your home. Drives me nuts. Also you may wanna make sure that your rinse agent is full. But I did all that and it came down to hard water. Check your manual if you have one. It should tell you about it in there. Even if you don't have the manual for your machine, get hold of any manual. It tells you about it. good luck. Maybe you should switch to liquid instead of powder.
do you have a water softener you water might just be too hard and you need a softener
good luck
I would guess that the water heating element is not working. Most DW's require 130 to 140 degree water to dissolve the detergents.
