Left my freezer door open help!?

Question:I woke up this morning to find out that I had left my freezer door open for probably about 16 hours, When I got home the motor was really really loud, so I closed the door and I could still hear the motor for proably an hour after that. Then it stopped and I thougth it was ok but now my freezer isn't freezing at all. The fridge works fine, did I break my freezer?

Answers:
Ice has built up on the evap. Manaully defrost the enitre thing for 24 hours by unplugging it to get rid of all the ice, plug it in and you will be good to go..

By the way the noise you heard was most likely the evap fan motor hitting ice that had built up.

no you made it over work that s all , let it be
Let it cool down. Unplug it for about two hours. Maybe set a fan blowing air under it if you can. Then plug it back in. Keep the doors closed on both frig and freezer for the whole time. It should be OK in like 3 hours.
