What is this part that fell out of the inside of my dryer?

Question:A black sort of crescent shaped plastic thing with two metal strips, which is normally stationed on the back of my dryer, fell off in a load of clothes. Is it essential that I put it back on? What is its function? I'm pretty sure the metal strips were snagging some of my clothes prior to it falling off.

Answers:
it is used as a balance weight for inside your dyer...best attach it back on...super glue should do the trick
