Why do air bubbles come into the bowl and the water not completely drain when I flush my toilet?
Question:I just bought a house with 2 bathrooms. In both rooms the toilets require you to hold the lever down until the bowl empties in order for all the waste to be completely removed. There are also lots of little to mid-sized air bubbles that come up through the drain when you first press the handle. Are these issues related, and how do I correct them?
Answers:
Where are you situated, France, USA ? I have never heard of any UK wc that requires you to `keep the handle down`. Bubbles in the drain( do you mean wc bowl) would suggest outlet is restricted/blocked.
what is causing this is the venting for the drain system, it must not be done right...plain and simple, a vaccum is created why causing the air bubbles...something terribly wrong with the vent and drain system in your home
I think you have something that is in the drain that is causing this situation..it could be anything, the best thing to do is take the toilet up, off the floor and run a snake down it..I would think this will be the anser and it will be the least expensive thing to do..then while you are at it, replace the ring that seats to the floor, for a better seal.
i had the same problem! when i taked to a plummer, he told me that the "stink" stack was blocked. easy solution! take a long garden hose with a water nozzel on that goes to hard stream up on the roof, put the hose as far down into the pipe as you can and have someone turn the water on full force. run it for a few minutes , turn off the water and try to toilet. if it still bubbles, do it again! keep doing this till the pipe is open! could be bird's nests, spider webs, or bee's nests! either way, this worked for me!
