My maytag fridge is not cooling But the freezer is, what is the problem.?

You most likely have an automatic defrost system that is not functioning causing frost/ice build up in the evaporator which is located in the freezer which will in turn prevent cold air to circulate into the fresh food compartment. Look at the back wall of the freezer and if you see it is 'snow' covered, the defrost system is not working. Call a technician to have it repaired - not a consumer repairable situation.

It's time to get another one. The cost to repair this unit will most likely exceed the cost of buying a new one. If you recently purchased this unit consider checking on the manufacturers warranty for repair.
Your refrigerator has two evaporator fans. One for the freezer and the other for the cool box. More than likely, the cool box fan may not be running.
Also (good answers here already) there are some fridges that rely on the freezer to cool the fridge. In this event the fan in the freezer sucks the air down a plastic channel that comes out inside the fridge compartment..if the freezer fan is out the fridge part will not cool..all freezers have a fan of some sort..and what I mentioned above is not too common now days..but I have seen a couple like this in last 8 or 9 years..
You need to supply more information than that, but go to

First things first take everything out of the refrigerator and freezer. STEP 1.-Remove the back panel from the freezer. Is the evaporator coil covered in ice. A little frost type ice is fine but if it is covered in hard, thick, developed ice then you have a problem.

So now, you need to take a small flathead screwdriver and STEP 2 -cycle the refrigerator into the defrost cycle. If you look at the "screw" holes near your temerature setting knob or dial, one screw hole will actually hold your defrost timer advance. Turn the advance using the screwdriver until the refrigerator stops running. This is the defrost mode.

Once in defrost mode you STEP 3 -inspect the freezer compartment (cover still removed) Inspect your heater element. It should get so hot it glows orange. If it does, then goto LAST STEP if it doesn't then STEP 4 - Check the continuity of the heater element with an Ohm's meter. If your element it good, then STEP 5 - You should find a device attached to you evap coil that looks like a disc with two wire coming out of it. Disconnect the wires and bypass this limit switch. Your element should come on. If it does replace this defrost teminator or limit switch. If your defrost cycle is all working fine then you LAST STEP - may a sealed system problem and you'll need to call a repairman.

If you are confused feel fee to email me and I will help you that way, GOOD LUCK - It may seem hard however, IT IS REALLY EASY
