Are extended warranties on compact refrigerators worth the price?

Question:I seem to have had a lot of problems with all sizes of refrigerators over the years, even though I'm careful to keep them clean and defrosted regularly, etc.. In the small place I now live, in three years I've had two used compact fridges stop working; this time I decided to buy a new one, just so I have a warranty for the next time something goes wrong. I have the option of buying an extended warranty of up to 5 years. Since it's usually the compressor that goes and more expensive to buy the compressor than buy a new fridge, seems to me it's worth buying that extended warranty. Feedback, anyone? Thanks.

Answers:
If the place in which you are living is hot , that is you frig's worst enemy. Make sure it is pulled away from the wall and has plenty of air circulation around the back of it. also if there are coils (usually looks like black wire mesh) on the back make sure those stay clean and free of dust. As for the warranty find out what the manufactures warranty covers and how long it is good for. Then check to see what the extended warranty will cover exactly. Also a lot of extended warranties run consecutively with the manufactures, so therefore if the manufactures warranty is for three years then your ext. warranty is actually only 2 yr. ext. to it. hope this helps good luck.

With the price of small refrigerator as low as they are. I don't see a reason to get an extended warranty. If it is going to break, it will most likely break during the warranty period. If it makes it through the warranty period then it should be could for a number of years. good luck.
just buy a ref with a brand name, extended warranties are like a highway robberies.
I never buy the extended warranty. If it's gonna' break down..it will happen in the first year. You say that you keep it clean and defrosted. That won't keep it working. You have to clean the coils. They are located at the bottom of the fridge. Some can be cleaned from the front...some have to be cleaned from the back. Keep these clean..and it will run forever. Read your instruction manual for the one you bought.
