Circuit breakers . . . ?
Question:My daughter (16 years old), plugged in electric iron, which was fully turned up. That overloaded the circuit and she lost electricity in that room and the next room. I flipped the circuit breaker switch back and forth. nothing happened. Then I flipped all the circuit breaker switches, including the main, back and forth. nothing happened. Her room is still without elctricity.
What is wrong? (The house is only 2 years old)
Answers:
I would sugget theat the circuit breaker switch has blown. you need to get a replacement circuit breaker switch. Must make sure you get the same amperage switch.

wow...I would leave them off for now. Let me find something for you.I can only find that it may be a faulty switch. ( Even new homes have electrical problems when contractors use low priced materials to "get it done".) You should call an electrician anyway..not messing with it yourself...
Try the main breaker, which should be located at the top of the panel. It will be labeled 100 or 200.
It looks slightly different than the others.
Unplug everything on the circuit
Take a look at the plugs I don't know where you are so it is possible you vary from national building code and have GFP (ground fault protection) sockets, look for a little reset button between the sockets.
If no luck then call an electrician, if the circuit is no longer overloaded and the breaker will not reset you may have a burnt out circuit you need to take care of it immediately (yes even at emergency rates) if there is a burnt wire inside your walls you want it taken care of NOW
Check to see if any outlets in that room or adjoining rooms that have one of the GFCI outlets that have their own reset button in it. These trip independently of the circuit breaker in the service panel and if they (GFCI's) have been wired to cover regular outlets down line you must reset it before the down-line outlets will work again. Since you home is only 2 yrs old you almost certainly have some GFCI outlets.
NOTE
A GFCI outlet will have a test button and a reset button. They are usually used around bathrooms, kitchens and outside outlets, but can be wired to cover not just the outlet they are located at but all regular outlets that are wired beyond there location.
Check for a tripped gfi. That means look at every receptacle in the house. Test then reset them ALL. Then check the breaker panel for a gfi reset button. Also a common mistake regarding breakers is to not SNAP them all the way off to reset them and then back on. It could be that the breaker is not resetting. Also your last comment states her room is still out, what about the other? The preceding is based on both rooms still out. If only the one room is out yet the other came back on line then check for power in all the receps of the room. You would find either a burnt recep of burnt wire. Easiest way to find a burnt circuit is to use your nose.
Check the receptacle where the iron was plugged in some have built in breakers you will see a reset and a test make sure reset is pushed in. You may need to check several receptacles start with the bathroom first.
Check for a tripped Arc Fault Breaker.
