My fridge is collecting H2O?
Question:Under the drawer of my fridge, there is water collecting. Any clues why?
Answers:
Maybe it knows something you don't... I would go out and buy some bottled water if I were you.
That is a condensate pan - it is suppose to collect condensation (hence the name). The water evaporates naturally and should be no cause for worry.
There is a drain line that goes from the evaporator to the drain pan that is under the fridge. If that line is clogged up the water will overflow. That may be the problem.
First unplug the fridge. Then open the cover on the back side where the power cord goes in. Look for a pan down there. If there is not water in that pan that is probably where the water in your fridge is coming from.
You can trace the plastic tube from that pan to the middle of the fridge. You may have to use a coat hanger or something to try to unplug it.
Also if your fridge has an ice maker that could be leaking. Try turning off the water supply to the ice maker and see if your water problem goes away.
The drain is plugged. It goes from the drain trough located behind the freezer rear panel, bottom center through a tube to ending up under you frig.Whirlpool and some others you may just have to melt the ice then pour hot water in the hole to clear unseen ice & buy then push 1/4 in. plastic tube about 4-5 ft. down drain till it comes out bottom. Some frigs have a cup, up high, rear center of fresh food area that may have the clog, find it clean it.You may not even need to open the freezer
