When people have a near death experience why do they only ever see heaven?

I don't know if you saw the final episode of the Sopranos, but akin to that, from what I have heard, many people who are near death experience nothing. They remember nothing of what went on when they were in their "state." Many people who are in near fatal accidents, don't even remember the accident. This seems to be a defense mechanism.
Perhaps the ones who "see heaven" do, because it's a pleasant place, and they would like to "go" there. One would imagine that if someone were in a near death experience, and "seeing" anything like what some people prescribe to be "hell" they would want to forget that. Besides, it would do no good for their recovery.
coz we already live in hell
good question ill have to put my thinking cap on and get back to you.
They don't want to see the other place
Professor Susan Blackmore in her 'Dying to Live' book mentioned that a small percentage of people who have had NDE's had a hellish experience.
I think it is because, like it or not, that is where we are all going

G
they don't. there have been many examples of people who saw 'hell' when they died.
Because those that see hell immediately repent... besides, if anyone talks of hell these days, no one wants to hear about it.
Maybe its their last chance to put things right!
I have a relative (elderly lady) who never believed in heaven, but did believe we are living in hell. A couple years ago she died (and they brought her back), and when she came out of it she was a definate believer.she saw both sides at the same time, with people calling to her from both sides, as she walked down a very narrow walkway, almost falling into the side where the fire was before she was brought back. Since this lady was always an avid disbeleiver of the afterlife, I believe this did really happen to her. It would take a lot to convince her, which this experience did!
Because that is what they want to see. A near death experience does not show you where you are going, but what you have been taught about where you should want to go.
because there on there backs, looking up
