What to do with the ASH from the Fireplace??
Question:I use my fireplace often and therefore have to clean out the ASH tray at the bottom every day. What I can i do to dispose of the ashes or is there a environmentally kind way? I have quite a large garden and have heard that the ash is good to use on the flower beds.?? The shear amount of ash is huge and leaving it for the dustmen is not an option... All interesting ideas are very welcome.
Many thanks
Answers:
mix it with earth in any of your gardens,
Since Roman times, wood ash has been recognized as a useful amendment to the soil. In fact, North America exported wood ash to Britain in the 18th century as a fertilizer, and today, 80 per-cent of the ash produced commercially in the Northeastern United States is applied to the land.
Wood stoves and fireplaces are great for warming gardeners' chilly hands and feet. So, what can we do with the ashes? Since wood ash is derived from plant material, it contains most of the 13 essential nutrients the soil must have for good plant growth and health.
garden or anywhere you want to enrich the soil with potassium.
If you have no Garden, you can spread it out over dirt or gravel alleys or driveways. Also you can simply bag it and put it with trash pick-up!

When I was young we also used it as a traction aid for the driveway and sidewalks. 100% eco-friendly and no salt to muck up the grass.
if u have not started a compost pile you could start 1 and add the ashes to it
If you are doing any non-structural concrete work or asphalt/tar project you can add it to the mix.
