What are the benefits of having a water softener?
Question:
Answers:
Water taste is number one, They also allow your soaps to work better and you dont need to use as much.
Your dishes will be cleaner without mineral deposits,
Your clothes will be cleaner and softer, brighter and whiter.
Your bathroom (shower toilet and sink wont get mineral/soap buildup)
It is better for your appliances, dish washer, water heater etc will last longer and can reduce energy cost (increases efficiency of hot water heater)
It is better for your skin and hair, soft water is a natural conditioner. great lather in the shower with less soap and it feels better than hard water(untreated)
They are great, but if you cannot lift much weight, as in the conditioning salts, you will need to get one that can be easily maintained. There are many to consider...Good luck .once you have one you will not want to live without it.
In areas with very hard water like mine, it makes your appliances--coffeemaker, dishwasher, ice maker, clothes washer--last longer without clogging up. Our water is so hard that my bf has to unclog his coffeemaker twice a week!
1 benefit is knowing how it works first.
salt is added to the softener before turning on water that is of a low ph or what some country folk would call hard water. The water runs through the salt and the salt neutralizes the low ph water that keeps the pipes from clogging up with what is called calcium build up.
ph scale is like this 0-14 ph.
0-6.99 is low or acidic which means it can eat through things over time.
7.0 is considered neutral, not too much either way.
7.1-14.0 is considered alkaline or salty. Ions in the water are like batteries. you have a negative ion and a positive ion in all water. With both neg.'s & pos. attracting to each other like magnets, they fight for the space thus creating the scum or calcium build up in your pipes restricting water flow and breaking loose in your water. If you keep it at a 7.0 ph then this build up cannot occur due to the ions becoming not attracted to the other. Other than that, it is not beneficial
Kind of like a light switch. If you want power, connect the wires with the switch. No power, shut the switch off.
You might want to investigate into a nice invention called reverse osmosis water filtration system that fits under your sink. It covers everything and is about the same price as the softener unit and all of the salt you will use forever.
