Re: Wood burning stoves. In laymans terms, whats the dif between radiant heat vs. convection.?

Question:

Answers:
With radient heat, the stove gets hot and gives off heat into the room by just sitting there. With convection, there has to be a fan blowing hot air from the stove to the room.

Convection has some sort of fan to circulate and heat air. Radiant heat is just the heat rising from the stove.
Consider it like a heating system of old. Radiators were radiant heat. The heat from the water or steam heated the radiator and heat came off it and heated the room. Convection has a fan to circulate the heat.
