Answers:
Scheffleras like to be moist, but not wet (don't let water stand in the saucer under the plant) and they like a lot of bright light. They can grow in low light but will appear more leggy over time. They take well to being pruned.

Dust the plant regularly to keep its leaves clean and occasionally look under the leaves for mites. If you find mites, try wiping each leaf individually with a plant-safe soap. (You can find this with gardening supplies in home improvement stores, plant nurseries and some florists. You can use diluted dish soap on a paper towel, but be careful not to get soapy water or suds on the soil.)

They only need to be repotted when the roots start crowding the pot and do fine in an all-purpose potting soil.
