What else do i need to do for my garage sale...?
Question:I am having a garage sale tomarrow. All the stuff is in the basement and I went through the house finding other stuff to sell. I plan to sell the stuff on tables on my lawn. I put up about 25 neon signs with arrows up and down the streets. Is there any ideas about how to sell the most? Anything im missing? Tips for the future. Thanks

Run a cheap ad in the newspaper....Put a lot of little items (that you would just as soon throw away) in grab bags and sell em cheap.... Make sure you have lots of change, a lot of people won`t buy if you can`t break a bill.....put up a sign offering increasing discounts for people who spend more....Put bottled water, canned soft drinks, and possibly even snacks out for sale at reasonable prices, especially if it is hot and sunny.....Keep any pets restrained or kenneled....Label what you are selling, it is a deterrent if people have to keep asking the price of something they are interested in......Be prepared to negotiate, no price set in concrete...Just to name a few, lol.
Invite the friends over, even turn it into a barbeque. If people see from the street that not only are there other people there, they seem to be having fun, they're more likely to stop. That will aid to draw a younger crowd. Also, dress for it. You want to be casual but avoid sweat pants and a ratty T-shirt. You want something that you can be comfortable in, and still look like you "mean buisness" expecially if you're willing to negotiate prices. If you are negotiating prices, on things like furniture, take your starting prices now and raise them by ten percent, and be willing to go down about ten percent of what they are now, if not lower. Also, one trick on the barter that works is throw in extra crap that just dosen't sell (without showing the price), and the key to a good sell if haggling, is making it seem like they're getting a steal.
Mark everything with a good price.
My garage sales included items not sold in three antique shops so they were always huge and very popular, netting between $3-5K.
Do you have a $1 table?
Are your items organized by type, books, kitchen, etc.?
Is everything clean and well marked?
Do you have change?
Did you save bags, both paper and plastic?
Do you have assistance?
Did you put an ad in a local newspaper?
Will you have a 1/2 price sale later in the day?
Are you exhausted? You will be tomorrow!
Anything that doesn't sell needs to go to Goodwill or be boxed up with price tags for next year.
Have a secure place for your money. And have some change available to start out.
Price every thing to sell and try to have everything marked with a price tag.
