How come my gerbera daisies are flopping over??
Question:I bought a pot of 4 inches mini gerbera daisies from "save on food" this morning. A few hours later, I watered it and put it out on my balcony so that they get some sunlight. However, an hour after, I found that my gerbera daisies are flopping over!! I wonder how come they would started wilting so quickly.

They were probably shocked by too much cold water, sunlight or heat.
If you put plants out in strong sunlight, and they were not conditioned appropriately, they will wilt to protect themselves and sometimes even die off.
Try keeping them inside for a couple of days and then put them outside in a partially SHADED area. Do NOT water them with cold water when the air temperature is VERY hot; the shock can kill them.
My daughter works as a trainee florist and tells me you can overwater them, think how our skin goes if we stay in bath too long. Another tip is to push a very fine length of craft wire through centre of bloom and right down stem, this gives support and is something they also do in bouquets as it enhances appearance and prolongs life. It's the heat. Gerbera daisies, especially the potted ones, need afternoon shade. They don't like the heat.
They were used to the cool climate in the store. When they were put outside in the sun it shocked them. The plants were not used to these extremes. When you put them outside, keep them in the shade and slowly introduce them into the sunlight. The drooping was not due to watering.
