What rights do you have with a fault domestic appliance?
Question:My mum bought an Hotpoint washing machine less than a month ago. We had to call them back to take a look at the machine as there was a problem with it, just a week after it being installed. Its having problems again so we need to call them out again. Can we demand a replacement or our money back? Or are we stuck with the thing? What rights do we have? This is in the UK guys!!
Answers:
Write to the people from whom you purchased the machine. Tell them that you are rejecting it under the terms of the sale of goods act. Give them about 10 days to remove the machine and refund your money. Send it recorded delivery. You can find sample letters at http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/... you have extra protection if you bought it with a mastercard, or hp
call them back out, we are on our 3rd tv, we had it replaced 3 times within a week. i think guarantee is a standard year on appliances, they have to fix the fault or replace the item
You have a 12 month guarantee from the manufacturer. If the supplier will not replace the machine, contact Hotpoint directly.
you could enquire about a refund or replacement.you normally get 28 days to return unwanted or faulty items.if you bought a guarantee, refer to that.make sure you contact the retailer within 28 days if you want an exchange/refund otherwise you may well be stuck with it xx
It is still under guarantee so they have to fix it or replace it.
Your rights are with the suppliers you bought it from. You can ask for a replacement or your money back. This will not effect the retailer as they will be reimbursed by the manufacturer and therefor will not quibble. You will also have the right to send the laundry bills if you are using a laundry service in the meantime.
get them to change it for a working model it is your right
well they have to fix it,if it keep's breaking down, then you demand a replacment
if goes wrong in month you should be able to have a exchange or money back phone customer service giving dates arrived and job number from call out docket, they should arrange a uplift / swap over. if want money back they will give you a uplift number, tell supplier to collect and refund your money and give them the uplift number, work quick because after a month they will only want to repair it , and that is all you can do about it. as long as there was a proper fault you can do this , not because you have changed your mind as this happens. they will send another engineer out to check it's faulty before anything will be done. finger's crossed for you
You have the right to return to the retailer and ask them to replace it, as it is not of merchantable quality. Tell your retailer you either want a refund or a replacement, see if they will change it for a Borsh, a much more reliable appliance.
