Can we sell broken items (toys) at a garage sale we're planning?
Question:We've got some broken electronic kid toys and was wondering if its okay to sell at a garage sall as "as is." My sister notes that you never know because people who are looking may know how to fix some things.
Answers:
as long as ppl are aware that the toys do not work and have no chocking hazards on them
Sure, it's your sale - sell whatever you want. Just don't lie and tell people that it works if it doesnt.
It is definately ok to do this IF you let the people that look at them know in advance what is wrong with it, what doesn't work and that it is a final sale AS IS. It's not your problem weather they can fix it or not, only to let them know that there is a problem.
**Like the lemon law with cars.**
Absolutely. Just make sure everyone knows that they are broken or not working. Sometimes people are looking for parts or components for their old toys. I once was missing a silo to my childhood Fisher-Price little people farm set. I found one at a flea market for $1.00. They didn't have the barn, just the silo, which was the only piece my set was missing. Thank goodness that person didn't just throw that thing away. p.s my complete farm set e-bays for over $100.00! So I say go for it! Make some monies and maybe help someone out!
of coarse u can. most ppl dont no if they r broken. kids will just look and say "mommy mommy can i have this toy!?" most parents won't look at them. but if they do and this backfires then tell the person it is broken
As long as you let folks know that the items don't work, I don't see the harm in trying to make a few bucks. Your sister is right, you might just have the gizmo they need to fix something.
write " for sale cheap for parts"
who knows? just label it right. I have to have a rummage sale too. but I am not looking forward to it. !
Sure. Just label it under broken. just in case people think you're trying to scam them.
I would, but make sure people know it is broken. Someone might need a piece that is impossible to buy or replace in order to fix a similar item. I had a garage sale once, and someone bought the base of an electric mixmaster because he needed the ball bearing at the bottom of it to repair his. As they say, one man's junk is another man's treasure!
I wouldn't sell them, but if you would like to give them a new home you could put them in a free box.
