Answers:
chimneys usually need to be swept every 2-3 yrs depending on where you live at, if you live in the north where its used more often then of course you should get it done after 2 yrs. if you live in the southern U.S. then usually every 3-4 yrs., on fire wood in the north you pay about 300$ for a cord (8'x4'8x') that should last you about 2-3 weeks depending on how much you burn, in the south a cord costs around 50$-100$

HP is about right about hiring chimney cteaning. Of course you can buy a brush and DIY. Here in mich. a cord of wood costs $100--$150. That will last a month, maybe more maybe less dependng on you and your home.
