Roach Problem?
Question:In all 4 of my years living in my house, I have never had a roach problem until now. They seem to be everywhere. In my pantry, on my counter, in my shower, etc. I have no clue where they came from but all I want to know is what is a safe way for me and my family to get rid of these little creepy crawlers once and for all?

I'd burn my house down to the ground before I'd live with roaches! Thankfully though, I'm married to a pest-control guy. He said the reason roach bombs don't work is because they don't kill the roach eggs. Roaches carry their eggs on the underside of their bodies, and the only way to kill the roach and the egg is to smoosh 'em. You can call Terminix or some other pest control company and they can use stuff that will kill them, but it's pricey. He also echoed the sentiment that finding the nest is key. Did you buy any used appliances lately? They love to hide in them. Did you buy any used books? He said one lady had a sudden infestation and the nest was actually in a cookbook she'd bought at a yard sale a few weeks before. They can also come in in paper bags from the grocery store, in boxes of envelopes, in your daily newspaper, and in landscaping products such as mulch and topsoil.
Those bombs kills them, but you have to seal the house up tight and leave for a few hours. They are not dangerous, and do not linger in the air.
Borax, Borax everywhere!! Behind the stove, under the fridge, sprinkle it behind furniture, at the backs of cabinets...and it you're feeling ambitious, get a bottle of liquid boron at the health food store, and put small amounts here & there in little containers such as bottle caps. It works!
You have to find out where they came from. Basement? Kitchen - behind the cupboards? You have to tackle the nest. Otherwise you will probably have only short term successes.
I´ve never had that problem, but I pity you. However, I´ll just let you know that roaches in Africa are 3 or 4 inches long, and they FLY!!! So, although your problem is bad, try to remember, IT COULD BE WORSE!
(PS: In Africa, the ideal solution is to have a gekko lizard in your house..)
Good luck!!
