What's the best way to get rid of aphids and ants?
Question:I have three grapevines growing in my backyard. However, a colony of ants and a horde of aphids have decided to make their homes all over my poor plants! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to naturally get rid of these pests? Thank you!
Answers:
The ants are actually taking care of the aphids for you. The ants are after the aphids because aphids produce a sweet dew out of their butts and the ants use it as another food source. You can kill the aphids with a tsp of dish soap in a 1 quart spray bottle of water. If you get rid of the aphids then the ants will probably go.
Aphids - brisk spraying and some dish soap
Ants - sweet n low or equal - has aspertane, a known ant poison.
get an anteatter
Ladybugs eat aphids and you should spray the ants with raid.
ants, use Pennyroyal plants. Ants really dislike anything Mint. Also, use boric acid powder and leve a little line leading up to where the ants are, drop a tiny bit of food in the boric acid and hopefully the ants will carry it back to their nest.
aphids, use lady bugs and praying mantis. Lady bugs will stay as long as there are aphids, when the aphids are gone they will fly away to another home (or rose bush) . good luck
to get rid of ants get old fashioned grits. sprinkle on ground ants eat the grains. the grains expand and ants explode!
Put lot´s of black pepper ,in and around the entrance to their tunnels, They will then carry this into their tunnels, but will soon move on as the egg-laying queen will not take kindly to black pepper. ACHOO. It won´t kill them they will just move along
