Putting in a shower – where do I start!?
Question:I need to have a shower fitted above my bath – cheaply and quite quickly. I've not had great experiences with using mixer taps (steaming hot/freezing cold) but baring in mind I need this done with the minimum of fuss and expense what do people suggest? Would I be better off with an electric one? What sort of price should I be aiming at? Do I buy a shower first, then find a plumber or the other way round? Help!
Answers:
buy a shower then get a plumber in , they normally charge by the hour so have a look around for the cheapest, give them a ring then ask how much it will be to put the shower in (sometimes hidden charges)
Pst! in the bathroom, lol.
What shower you get depends on the water pressure in your area, get a plumber round and dicuss the type that would suit you best.
First: what kind of shower? Is there a hot-water feed nearby? If so then the cheapest and simplest method is a self-contained power-shower. They take hot and cold and pump it (a tiny pump), and control the temperature for you and only need a low-current supply (even from your lighting circuit will do)
If you have only a cold feed then you will need an electric shower which presents a whole new set of problems regarding electrics (it needs it's own fused supply!)
Maybe it's time to call in a plumber!
don't forget about the electrician.
you can buy a shower from focus for around #70.00 then get a few quotes from plumbers before u book one!
Look for a local plumber, ask friends or neighbours first who they would recommend.
get a p[lumber in dont do it yourself too dangerous if you have no idea what your doing
