Try sitting a small bowl of vinegar somewhere in the kitchen when you start to cook..I would get one of the fly tapes and hang one in each room...You can find these almost any where Dollar Stores .Wal-Mart etc.in packetts of 4..
you should light up a candle
flys hate smoke
This is what many people think,Fruit flies, But these little annoying thing´s are Gnats. They live of the fresh soil and dead root´s from your household plant´s. To rid them, dry your plant´s out for a week, or even a couple off day´s, You could even pop them outside for a couple of hrs in the sun, just to dry the soil a little. They will soon leave, also put the stopper in your sink at night, stop them from having any water to drink
Are they gnats? I've been having these a lot lately myself, I think it's from all the rain we've been getting too. I've noticed that when I light a candle, they tend to kill themselves by getting stuck in the wax. Also, check out your garbage disposal. They might be attracted to food particles stuck in there. Pour some vinegar or bleach down it. Make sure you're not leaving any food out (even pet food).
I work for a pest control company and I am telling you theres is really nothing that can be considering chemicals they are usually going after something so clean you drains and trash cans out really good you will see them in the bathroom alot also so clean really well behind the toilet and they could possibly be spring tails thats are often mixed up with fruit flies the spring tails are atracted to standing water if this is the case remove the water and you remove the problem . but for a temporary help and i know this sounds kinda lame but the sticky fly paper will help cut down the number of them flying around in the air and you can find those at wal mart or a local grocerie store for aroung a dollar in the pesticide aisle.
Somewhere there is a piece of fruit that has started to rot and flys can find this easily. So check everywhere for a misplaced bananna or apple fallen behind something. The other option could be they are drain flies and they lay eggs in gunk in the drains in bathrooms or kitchen drains. Ckean out the drains thouroughly and the flies will dissapate.
They are probably fruit flies. Get rid of any fruit or veggies that you have! They lay eggs in there and they will continue to hatch. Do not leave any water drops/pools in your sinks or tub/shower...they are attracted to this as well. If they have nothing to eat or drink...they will die out.
I purchased some nasty old hairspray (like from big hair '80's) and sprayed the crap out of them. It sticks to their wings and they can't fly. Then when they were down, I killed them with Raid.
