Noisy bin men emptying pub bins daily 6:30am?

Question:i have a pub opposite my house, and they have their bins emptied daily. used to be 7:30am, now 6:30am. (they have switched to Veolia waste management, used to be council). this is a residential area, but as it is trade waste, different rules. what can i do? anything? the worst bit is the hydraulics, picking up/lowering big bins. and the reverse alarm, beep beep beep beep....

Wow, you're lucky, I don't know anyone who has the luxury of sleeping that late.

Try earplugs
Report it to Environmental Health at local council office - it's noise pollution and they can act on it.
Get up early like me.
At least they don't let their refuse sit and rot for days.

Get over it. Maybe the pub owners, who just went to bed at 3AM, don't want to hear YOUR refuse being picked up in tne morning, either.
Get a job and wake up early like the rest of the world.
Oh...sorry...too quick to judge...
What are your work hours? Can you change shifts?
It's kinda hard to change the route of a professional business.
Like the other guy said your local council has an Environmental Health department. Give them a call. 7am is supposed to be the earliest limit for loud noise.
Not being funny, but you obviously moved opposite the pub and should had realised that there would be noise from it at all hours. The bin men are only doing their job.
Cretinous isn't it. Pubs, with their bins and barking dogs can be a real pain. If enough people complain to the council there may still be something that they can do. Find out about the legal side of this. If the Veolia people are wrong enough to do this, they may also be contravening certain laws or guidelines.
People power will definitely work in the end. Galvanise your neighbours, leaflet them, organise a meeting and petition the authorities. A greater sense of community and friendship is the silver-lining to clouds like this.
You could just have a word with the landlord as a short cut. If he's a good bloke he might actually listen to you.
For a start off it's illegal to use a reversing alarm between 11:30pm and 07:30am (sorry could be 7am but I'm sure its 7:30am) all vehicles with a reverse warning siren should have an override switch for this.

Secondly check with your council regarding noise law, they may be able to fill you in better than what I can.
would you also be moaning if they never emptied the bins and you had rats and mice running up your street?
Wow, alot of answers here. If a call to the waste management company doesn't bear fruite you mau want to give your code enforcement office a call. Typically there are restrictions in place when adjacent to residential areas. It all depends on your local jurisdiction as to what hours they are.

In my jurisdiction it's 0700.

The beeping alarms are required by law and cannot be disabled.
You poor thing, I know what you're going through! I moved to a flat above a shop. We had normal road noise - but you get used to that! About 6 months ago, the shop changed into a newsagents and now we are woken up 7 days a week at about 5am with newspaper deliveries On Sunday mornings, it is worse. We have the street cleaner at around 5.30 and the street bin cleaner bashing about at the same time.

As the local youth hang around the area and are all pissed out of their heads in the evenings, it is not usually possible to get to sleep until after midnight. In the summer, we have a choice, stay awake all night but keep windows open so we are not so hot or have the noise down a bit but get roasted alive! Thank God I'm moving in a couple of weeks.

I have just spoken to our environment people in Kent and apparently they have no jurisdiction over noise in the street but they can suggest they keep the noise down - great lot of help!!

Using earplugs is not an alternative - especially if you have kids. I think it is just another example of rude, arrogant people who have limited brain cells and no sense of responsibility.
Sorry, 6.30 is not early. Be glad the binmen collect it all. Use them as an alarm call and get out of bed and enjoy the morning. It's the best time of day.
