New or Used Refrigerator?
Question:I need to buy a refrigerator, but I do not know if I want to get a new or used one. I can save about $250 buying a used one. What do you think? Anyone have experience in this?
Answers:
the new one's better because you really don't know whats wrong with the used one. we bought a refrigerator used once and it went out like the next week!
Check out a factory seconds appliance place. I bought a $600 dollar fridge for $300 two years ago at Sears Outlet. The only thing wrong with it was a scratch on the side, and that side is against my wall!
With a new refrigerator, you get a warranty from the manufacturer. If your not terribly picky, you can get a new one at a scratch and dent sale. These are appliances that have cosmetic blemishes during shipping and handling but the working parts are not damamged and they still carry the warranty.
you do not want to buy used, you will have no warranty , no idea how long it will last, and you can not be sure if there is any mold growing in the inside of the walls, and sometimes smells will come back after washed and get into your food. if need be get a no interest payment plan and get a good quality frig
Definitely a new one. You never know what you are getting with a used refrigerator or how long it will last.
Even though you may have to spend more, it will be cheaper in the long run. A new one should last 25-30+ years. A used one--not so much !
Buy a new one!! Even though you may save $250.00 buying used, you will save even more in one year if you buy a new model. When I replaced my 14 year old refrigerator a few years ago, my electric bill dropped by almost 50%! Same size, much more efficient!
Go to the scratch and dent section of Lowe's they really have pretty good deals there, just keep checking because they go quickly. I don't really like used anything because I always have to ask myself why did "they" get rid of this in the first place?
