Is it okay to keep reusing water bottles (like the ones you buy in cases in the store with water in them).?
Question:
Answers:
Actually, it isn't. The plastic used in most water bottles wasn't designed to be washed and re-used and has been proven in studies to harbor harmful bacteria over time. Besides this, there is evidence that the plastic itself breaks down over time and releases plastic molecules into the water you're drinking from the re-used bottle. It would be much healthier to buy a $4 or $5 bottle that is dishwasher safe, then you don't have to worry about it at all. Here's an article on it you can check out for yourself, http://www.ghchealth.com/people-who-freq...
only if you wash them with hot water and soap every two or three times you use them.
Its fine
On the bottles they say you are not supposed to do that but i do it all the time!
some people do, my mom does it, i think it's gross personally but it can be done as long as you are washing thoroughly. However, don't ever freeze them!! It's been shown that freezing water bottles releases a toxin from the plastic into the water causing cancer...
I saw a clip in the news on this the other day. The amount of bacteria that builds in the bottles is extremely high. Apparently the longer you use the bottle the more bacteria build up there is. The clip advises that you NEVER reuse the bottles.
Don't worry about freezing water in those bottles: the idea that this could cause cancer has been exposed as an urban legend -- that means it's false!
"What do you make of this recent email warning that claims dioxins can be released by freezing water in plastic bottles?"
"No. This is an urban legend. "
