Any harm in having a chipmunk constantly come visit the foundation of your house?

Question:This little guy is always running from the neighbor's yard, across our driveway, and over by our foundation. I'm not a country girl- Do we have to worry about anything?

Answers:
No - you just don't want them building a nest there because their concentrated droppings could be a hazard - especially if you have children. I believe chipmunks nest in burrows.

I also wouldn't recommend feeding them out of hand, they are still wild and we sometimes have a problem here with rabies. You could set up feeders - here you can purchase corn feeders or they really like peanut butter you could put out for them. I hung a bird feeder on a tree, but of course it instantly began to feed more squirrels than birds.

When we grew corn in our garden, I saw one of the squirrels make off like a bandit with an immature ear he stripped from stalk. He took the whole thing and carried it up to his nest in the tree, where it began raining corn husks and eventually the cob! :) He didn't get any good corn, though.

He may have a little home there somewhere. They are adorable creatures. We have two or three living here and we feed them peanuts[unsalted] out of our hands. We live in a city too.
