Reel-type mowers have always been considered the best type of cut for the grass, but then it's a question as to whether it's best for you, lol. What could be called cutting the grass with a normal blade mower could now be called "cardio" excercise with a reel mower. If you have a small lawn area, a reel mower would be fine, providing that you are in good physical condition. If you have any health problems, I'd advise against getting one. Sears still carries a reel-type mower, but you'd probably have to have the store order it for you (no cost for this, you pay for it in advance, the store gets it in and you come pick it up).
Supposedly reel mowers allow you to cut the lawn more evenly and shorter. You can find them at Lowe's or Home Depot.
I do not use a reel push mower since I tend to let my lawn grow a bit before I mow. A manual push reel would have a hard time cutting my lawn.
I believe they're only good when the grass is not too long. If your grass gets too long you got trouble.
