Title Deeds - which tenant owns what?

Question:I have purchased an ex-local authority flat in a six flatted tenement, half of which is council owned & half private.
Where can I see a copy of the deeds so that I know which part of the garden etc. belong to me? I have a neighbour who, although being on the ground floor & having exclusive use of the front garden, has taken over almost every inch of space in the back garden too for his child's swings, chutes, trampoline etc. I have nowhere to walk or play with my dogs & need to know whats my space.
Thanks!

Answers:
Your deeds must be with your Solicitor surely? Telephone them and ask for the information you need. You could also phone the council's Housing Department to see if they can help. I don't think you would be wise to mention your dogs because you might have to have permission to keep them in a flat. Although your property is ex local authority the council can, and do, still exercise their powers over you.

Your local Abstract Office will have this info.
