Need help identifying houseplant?

Question:I think it's a pretty common houseplant but I'm not sure what it is or how to care for it. It has long pointy green leaves with light green in the middle of the the leaves. It has no flowers as of yet, I got it about a week ago.Looks like one leaf is trying to bud, it had a cylindrical, beige bud in the middle. Any info or website with pics would be very helpful
