What can I do to get ants out of my house?
Question:We have fire ants in the house. We are having a drout here in Alabama and the ants are comming in, and we cant stop them. They have infested my couch.( Right inside the front door.) You can see them in the carpet, there everywhere. And I have welts everywhere. What can I do?

If you really want to do this yourself, Amdro works well but may take a week or more to fully work. Diazanon works too.
I know the best thing that I have used is a product called Demon WP. It comes in a 1 pound container or in a package that contains 4 water disolvable packets and you put two packets in 1 gallon of water and spray all inside your house and then do the outside border of the house about 2 foot off the ground and away from your house to prevent them from returning again. It doesn't say how long it will last but they say to spray if the ants or any insect for that matter comes back again.
Spray allaround the places they are coming in with crawling insect spray. Put down Nippon somewhere outside where animals cant get to so the ants can take it back to the nest to destroy the nest.
An old solution for keeping ants out is to sprinkle comet kitchen cleanser all along the floor in front of the doorway. That may be a way to keep them from coming in through the front door but it sounds like you really need to get an exterminator for what is already in the house.
I had the same problem i used Borax detergent and Icing sugar mix 1/2 and 1/2 and put every where they are coming in from they like the sweat taste of icing sugar but borax kills them
