What is the best way to level up the ground for placement of an above ground pool?

Question:I have a 12' dia. x 36" above ground pool. The insturctions state that it is critical that the ground that I'm placing it on be level. It is not. I don't have another option for placement, (except on top of the driveway or in the front yard) neither of these are really an option. I would guess there is approx. a 12" slope over the 12' span. All I can think to do is dig out the lawn at the high end or is there a way I could raise up the low end maybe using a few bricks & a sheet or 2 of plywood? Any suggestions welcome.

Answers:
A shet or two of plywood would not really do the trick. water weights about 8 pounds per gallon, and the weight alone would collapse the deal. What you should do is to use the plywood to build a retaining wall, and get some sand to level the low end to the height of the high end. to ensure this is completed and it is totally level, rent or borrow someones laser transit. The guidestick doesn't lie. Hope this helps. (take it from me (broken liner once) this is the way to go)

the best thing to do is dig down do not you the dirt on the low side. dig out a couple extra feet so the lawn slopes toward you pool at at least a 1 to 1 pitch. make sure you pla a 2" layer of sand under your pool this will ensure the bottom is nice and comfortable
ok what you could do is find the center point of the lawn that the pool is going to be. from the center point go 6' out all the way around. now on the high end dig down about 12 to 13" and as you go out raise it up to 6". rake it out until its smooth. now get some sand and fill in the hole about an inch deep and make sure its level. now if all works out right it should last a pretty long time.
first you get a truck load of sand...need sand for the pool to set on so won't get rocks cutting through the liner..shovel out the sand onto the area...level by dragging a 2X4 over the surface a lot
I'm thinking to raise the lower end by using landscape wall bricks at the lower end, creating a wall that is a bit wider than the widest part of your pool and as high as you think it needs to be to make it level. Fill behind the wall with small rocks then sand till it is level with the top side. You could also try lowering the high side a bit with a shovel then raising the low end. I'm not an engineer, but I was reading about the need to build a proper support pad for a Hot Tub I'm thinking about. They said to remember that water is very heavy and the support shouldbe able to hold it along with the weight of the people in it. They suggested at least a 4 inch slab for a hot tub that would be 90"x90" and hold 450 gallons of water.
Good luck
