Is there an insect out there that lives in trees that sounds like a rattlesnake?
Question:There is something that lives in my trees (in town) that makes a rattle sound, however, it is not a rattlesnake...
What is it?

that would be a cicada, katydid or whatever people call them. they come out in the summer and shed their skins wherever they want. i don't think their harmful so you shouldn't be scared of them.
crickets or grasshopers, even katty-did bugs, rattlesnakes live in and on the ground/

Yes, the are call secadas. They come around every so often and when collectively together, they sound very much like a rattle snake.
