Victorian home..?

Question:My sister bought a a bild old victorian home that has been well taken care for it age. Has anyone owned one? Will it cost alot to maintain..it has a new boiler and 3 yrs old roof. any advice? Thanks

Answers:
An older home will always cost more to maintain. Also the cost of repairs will be slightly higher than a newer home because of thing like plaster walls vs drywall, lack of clearances for ducts, pipes, elect. wiring, and if you are trying to match finishes most victorians have things like crown molding and gingerbread exterior trim which are not found on newer homes. The payback for these higher costs is that you own a much nicer home than most newer non-custom type homes.
