What is the best way to get rid of ants?
Question:In my new house, I have noticed more and more of the big black ants here and there in the kitchen. We have a toddler, so that needs to be taken into consideration. Also, what can I do outside to minimize the ant problem? Thank you.

The boric acid is the best solution, I like Paul's old mustard squeeze bottle idea. Also you need a three foot barrier around your home with a good granular insecticide. It can be spread with a hand fertilizer spreader. Hope this helped :-)

You can use borax soap that will kill them but please be careful with that toldler he / she should not be licking the floor ! You can put it close to the floor boards or in the corners of rooms so that the tolder dose not get to it
Do Not Place These Inside The House They Attract The Ant Then Kills Them. ORTHO. I put the liquid bait on the squares that come with it then I place them on the ledge in the crawl space under the house and they have a granule I outline the outside of my house I do this every 6 months earlier if I see any ants inside, works great, how it works the ants take it back to their nest and it kills their nest. I tell everyone that I think my house was built on a giant ant hill, I have used this for years and it works great.
something that wouldn't hurt the toddler is to buy some borax. like the kind you can use to do your laundry with. anyway mix it with sugar and put it on the floor. the ants will be attracted to the sugar but the borax when eaten will kill them. once we had about a hundred ants on our kitchen floor and our kitchen window seal every morning. so i started mopping them up. well my mom was inspired to put clorox in the window seal - not a lot tho - worked like a charm. anyway when the borox is not enuff try clorox

Boric Acid Bait Recipe to Kill Ants -- Mix 12oz Karo's Clear Syrup With 1 Teaspoon Of Borax or Boric Acid Powder. Put Mixture In A Empty Sqeeze Mustard Bottle.Put Drops Of Mixture In Areas Where Ants Travel-OR-Mix 12oz of apple jelly with 1 Teaspoon of Boric Acid.
The best way to get rid of the ants and the cheapest is to save your old coffee grounds if you use a drip coffee maker with a paper filter when you have a pretty good amount of them saved up pour them around the foundation of your house and I mean put it all around your house and this should stop them from crossing your line of grinds that you have put around your foundation and it's cheap too if your a coffee drinker and make your own coffee every morning, So give it a try and GOOD LUCK!!
