Can a lost ring be recoverd from a septic tank?
Question:My son flushed a very expensive ring down the toilet (several days ago, just found out), we have a septic tank. Is there a way to recover the ring? What does this entail? Costs? Any insight is greatly appreciated, as I am freaking out!

I am a plumber, and yes you ca get it back. You need to find a septic cleaning company, and explain the problem. Normally they will understand and accommodate you with your needs. They will suck out the sludge, and go in with a metal detector. A normal septic cleaning is about $150.00-$200.00 and add on per hour to find your ring.

It probably can be recovered, but that's not someplace I'd want to fish around! My guess is that it would be very costly to have some one come in and dig up the septic then recover it.

Unless it hasn't reached the tank , you might be able to retrieve it
Call your plumber, MAY have 'trap' to check (I doubt it). Sounds gross but the ring may be heavy enough that it is in back portion of toilet hole. Put hand in & feel back as far as you can. You may have strong enough water flush that it is gone. Check with hand and a chat with your plumber AND sewer maintenance service first before giving up.
you can hire someone to filter/search the tank, however whats left of the ring and the smell will cost.

Who would volunteer to this ? We had a septic tank and the stench alone would make you sick, since it's only solids that are in there . In my opinion say good bye to your ring!
when a septic tank is cleaned, they use a very powerful vacuum to suck out all the dirt,they will not look for the ring.that ring is probably covered with yuck,and plumbers do not clean septic tanks.
