Pool vacuum doesn't work. I loose suction quickly.?
Question:When I try to clean my above ground pool with the vacuum I loose suction after only a minute or two. My filter presure drops from around 15 lbs to less than 5. My pump continues to get water and the filter is works but where I hook up the tubes to vacuum it comes loose after a short period of time. The pump continues to suck and the lid to the drain isn't warped and the lid isn't warped either. What should the guage be reading when the filter is running...mine runs around 15 lbs sometimes higher. I can't clean the bottom of the pool. Any help is welcome. I called a pool service but all they did was add some chemicals and charge me.

When I vacuum my pool I have to clean the vacuum filter at least twice before I am able to finish it!!
If your pressure drops that is an indication that there is something blocking flow before it gets to the filter. So you need to check all the lines for any built up debris before the filter. Also check the impeller to the pump, it could have debris that made it past the pump basket and has clogged it.
If it was a dirty filter the pressure would rise.
