Help!!!! I have maggots in my kitchen. What can I do??

Question:Before I begin, I want to let everyone know that my house is very clean and that I had just gotten done scrubbing my kitchen yesterday.

I woke up this morning and had 20 or so maggots in my kitchen sink and about 40 on my kitchen counter. After I got done freaking out, I went to the store, bought a few gallons of bleach, came back home, killed the maggots and then poured 2 gallons of bleach down the kitchen sink and then another one on the kitchen counter and scrubbed everything. As of right now, I believe they are all gone.

But I am so afraid I will wake up tomorrow and there will be more. I am not sure where they came from or how to make sure I have gotten rid of them forever.

This made me feel so nasty! Yuck. But like I said, I am a very clean person and my house might not be spotless but it is as clean as I can get it!

Serious answers only please.

Answers:
under sinks they seem to have a turn maybe over time its filled up and thats were there coming from have it removed and cleaned
or if you have a garbage diposial maybe it's not working right and the food is rotting in there.
i'd check these places first

I hear you. This happened to me a few years ago. My house too was clean, i was a clean freak. I was going to bed one nite and i was putting out the garbage when i notices rice on the floor,,,,not rice,,,maggotts!!. I could not believe what i was seeing. I totally freaked out. Once i lifted the garbage out of the can within a few minutes they were crawling all over the kitchen floor...again very clean, i washed my floor every nite before going to bed.
Turns out there was a piece of food behind the stove. The garbage can was right beside it and i guess i missed one day. Anyway I vacummed the floor and tgeb threw out the vacuum bag in 4 plastic bags. I had a bottle of bleach, removed the kitchen table and everything off the floor, pulled out the stove and litterally floded my kitchen with bleach, i had to keep the doors and windows open all nite. I mopped the bleach all over the floor, and rinsed and did it again, vacummed again and when i felt sure they wre all dead, thre was about 100 of them, i went to bed at 3am. I checked in the morning and nothing, the next day nothing and nothing ever again. The bleach took the finish off my kitchen floor however, i did not care.
In your case, check behind all appliances, all it takes is a piece of food, most likely meat or something sweet. I cannot see something acomming up from the sink, you may want to snake the drain, could be some meat stuck and fly got down there. may have to get in a plummer. Check in cupboards ect. Keep all food in plastic containers. I buy mine from the dollar store to store all dry foods ect.
good luck,,,,
Your maggots are housefly larva. June and July (at least where I live) is housefly season. I have had maggots in my cabinet when I accidentally put an opened can of cat food up there instead of in the refrigerator. In nature, maggots are housecleaners, so don't panic or gross out. Check your garbage disposal, if you have one. Check your cabinets. Put up flypaper. This doesn't mean you aren't clean. And be careful using bleach on kitchen counters; it can stain, fade, or yellow them.
I know exactly how you feel! My kitchen is really clean too and it was a really hot sunny day so the flys came into our house. The next day in the morning there were over 50 huge fat maggots crawling all over the place. When I saw this, I seriously wanted to throw up and couldn't walk in the kitchen without wearing slippers. And guess what, 2 days later the same thing happened. Another time there was a huge huge fly and I killed it with windex and the maggot babies started to spew out!! I hope the kitchen incident doesn't happen to anyone!! its disgustingggg
