A baby deer seems to be stuck in my/the surrounding gardens. Should I just leave it?

The dept of conservation was just talking yesterday on TV about baby wildlife; they say leave any babies alone, the mother has a good idea where they are and if not will hear the baby when it cries and come to is. Don*t try to move it or you will put your smell on it and Mama won*t bother with it.
for GOD SAKE... if you can't get it out then call the police and let them do it... otherwise it will starve to death or get killed by a predator. IT NEEDS YOUR HELP.
But if the mom isn't around, or he is so stuck he can't get to water for a while, you need to have some professional loosen him up. Poor little thing!
Is it hung on something or inside a fence? How is it "stuck"?
The mother is bound to be somewhere close by. If it can leave on its own accord the mother will call it to her. Make sure there are no dogs in the area. If you have one in the house, put it in a room that the barking can't be heard by the mother deer. If you're outside, go back in the house. If you view it from inside the house, don't move curtains or let your movements be seen from outside. Deer pick up on movement REALLY well. Stay inside and after things quiet down and the mother does not feel threatened she will get her baby back.
How many deer skeletons do you have in your garden? It's like a cat stuck in a tree, you don't see cat skeletons hanging from trees do you? The deer have been playing the survival game for a long time, (eons). He will be fine. In the mean time, take advantage of the situation. Get your camera and camcorder, and get some close-ups that are normally unobtainable.
