Gnats! Everywhere!?
Question:My sister has this gnat problem in her house and we can't get them out! They are in our drinks, on our stuff and everything. And the house is spotless! (Except 4 the gnats.) Can anyone tell me how to get them out?
Thanks!
Answers:
Citronella candles near the source, the plants and open a window in the room to let them out. All gnats hate citronella. It is a natural chemical so it wont hurt any children or animals but don't sleep in it without the window open wide. Move to another room as you clear one move back in.
I had the same problem this year with a bulb compost for Christmas hyacinths, Gnats all over the house in the new year. Drying off the compost helped until you water it again then you get a new batch.
Remember please Curtains, bedding and clothes are flammable so keep them away from the candle always. You want to get rid of the gnats not your home or family.
It might be because you are accidentally leaving windows or doors open or if your sister has dogs, they might be tracking them in... Im pretty sure one way to get rid of them is a chemical bomb but you will have to stay out of hte house for a couple hours if you want to use one of those.
okay try this it workes 4 me & every1 i no
things u need- banana-toothpick (anything with a small tip) and some saren rap (the plastic stuff (saran?)) a bowl
now put a chopped up banana in the bowl. put the saran rap over the bowl(NO OPENINGS!) and poke 5-8 holes in the rap with the tooth pick and your done (leave out for 5-10 days)
what happens is the gnats are small...they smell the food and get to the banana--but they cant smell freash air and are trapped.
tip- dont make the openings too wide
good luck!
Gnats live of the nice moist soil from house plants , they also eat the dead roots. So if your sister has house plants , tell her to dry the plants out for 1 week , This is the way to be rid of them
I believe Gnats and other flying insects are attracted to Carbon Dioxide ( Your exhaled breath). There are Carbon Dioxide Bug Zappers on the market- Google it!
