How to get rid of cockroaches?

I used to work pest control. The first thing you have to do is clean, clean , clean and clean. The entire kitchen and every other room you see them in needs to be cleaned. Then call pest control and they will have to spray extra strong material and place down professional grade bait for them to munch on. This bait, they will then share with the others and it will start to drop your numbers within a couple of weeks. Yes, it will take time and a lot of work!
Place Combat baits in the kitchen cabinets, inside of closets other places that roaches hide and breed. You can use boric acid too. Eliminate paper especially newspapers and boxes the glue inside attracts them.
the only realistic way to get rid of them is to burn your house down or move. Trust me if you have them now you'll have them forever.
as long as u dont have children or pets, sprinkle boric acid all arond the edges of your house inside and out. u should probably use one of those bombs first if they r really bad. u can buy the boric acid in the grocery store, it comes in a yellow plastic bottle. or if u dont want any chemicals try diatemacious earth. not sure where to get that.
The first thing you need to do is to determine what type of roaches they are. I am going to guess that they are German Roaches. If I am correct, the will have two brown striped just behind their head. There are also oriental roaches, wood roaches and several other kinds. Look on the internet for a picture of a German roach and see if it matches up.
The reason I think that it is a German roach is because they are the hardest to control. The breed very quickly and even though you spray and kill 90% of them, they can reproduce into the hundreds in a months time.
You do not need to hire a professional, You just need to keep on them until you get 100% control. Most sprays will not work, they are smart enough to avoid the areas. You can use it as a flushing agent to keep them away from stoves and from under the refrigerator, but for the most part try to avoid them. You will need to limit their food sources buy keeping everything in closed tight containers and ensuring that there is no pet food or other items laying around for them to eat. Then start using a bait. There are several different kids available and I would try at least two different baits. Some are granuals and other are liquids or gels. You can buy them at any hardware store or Wal-mart.
You may need to bait twice a month for up to 6 months to get full control. This is very important. Just because you stop seeing them after a month or two, don't stop! This is why they keep popping back up. You are only killing off 90% and the other 10% just keeps coming back.
You must keep your home clean. clean out all of your cupboards, wash all dirty laundry and fold put away take out your garbage timlely wash out the garbage pails when you spill food in them dont leave them anything to eat, put boric acid around your based board after washing them down first they lay eggsin corners and along base boards with Mr. Clean or bleach or some other strong cleaning agent. There is also a chalk you can use to draw lines around your base boards and cupboards. The chalk comes from china. You should be able to purchase it from any store that sells stuff for roaches like the boric acid. Ghetto stores ( meaning stores in the hood) not Target or KMart or anything like that. You can purchase raid sprays or Foggers to set off bombs those work pretty well also but you must take everything out first and wash everything afterwards. Put your food and dishes in plastic garbage bags first before you set off the bombs then you wont have to wash them again and take them out of the room or the house if you are doing the whole house the whole house is your best choice to get rid of them once and for all. Also be carfeful of your company many people bring roaches with them. I saw a lady on the bus and a roach crawled out of her coat pocket and onto the back of the rail on the bus. So they travel. Also check your workplace you may be bringing them home from there. I used to manage public housing and on a day when we had the exterminators come out to spray. one came home with me in my purse. Luckily I caught him before he was able to multiply. Good luck and be diligent it may take a few times to get rid of them.
