I've got an ant problem in my garden - what is the 'greenest' and safest method of getting rid of them?
Question:I want to kill the ants which are everywhere in my garden. I am alergic to their bite and also they are biting my dog and coming into the kitchen - so I want them gone ASAP!!
I want to know what the best solution is that is preferably home-made - I don't want to be polluting water courses with chemicals or damaging animals at all.
ANy suggestion??
Answers:
I know it sounds horrible, but the only way to kill them is pour boiling water on them. :(
never heard of a honey trail?
Boiling water lots of it then hosepipe wash there homes away.
as has been said above, Boiling water is the best and greenest way of getting rid of them. make sure you find where the nest is. spend a little time to see if there is more than one entrance so you can try and get them all at the same time, it'll also give you an idea of the size of the nest and how much water you'll need.boiling water will both kill the adults as well as eggs that may be in the nest, an average nest will need two full kettles poured over them. be prepared to sacrafice a plant or two if needs be. they always seem to choose your favorite plants to nest in the roots. as for ants in the house you may want to consider some ant traps. i bought some in our local b&q made by "ant stop" they worked really well and it meant i didn't have to worry bout our cats getting at the poison in them. put the traps down where you find them entering the house. B&Q also do an ant repellant pen that you can literally draw a line around doors and windows that they wont cross.
springle some beer they will get drunk brush in bin if that fails call police to aresset drunk and disordily
all suggestions re water are good. BUT the problem doesn't last very long. In a couple of weeks the ants will have stopped again being a nuisance.
