How to get smells out of wood...?
Question:I have a piece of old furniture from the early 1900's that was left in a house bought by a friend of mine. The piece smells really bad due to the poor conditions of the house. I washed is with a mild detergent and warm water(I had 4 buckets of black water) then I old englished it. I have it in my upstairs and if the room is closed up I can smell it and if I spray furniture polish on it I can smell it. The smell is a combination of cat and must. Can this piece be saved or should I trash it?

Odor Removal from Wood Furniture
Recipe for a homemade wood furniture cleaner: In a pump spray bottle, place 1 teaspoon of light olive oil and half a cup of white vinegar. Shake well. This is as effective as any store bought product, yet is far more economical.
Can you put it outside in the sun for a day or two? Simple sunlight will do wonders. Then, follow up with a good Febreeze treatment. Back in the sun for another day, and that should hopefully do it. I assume we're talking cloth upholstery here?
use bleach try 3 part water to 1 part bleach then put out side in a warm place if in the direct sun not too long keep feeling the piece don't let it get too hot
