Who makes the best compact fluorescent light bulbs?
Question:Is there one brand any better than the others? Any ones I shuold stay away from? I'm thinking about buying a large pack and replaceing all the 40, 60 and 100 watt incandescents in my house.

I will give a second vote for General Electric. I have not tried any others, frankly I have not seen any others, but I have been very pleased with the GEs that I have.
Keep in mind that you can't use them on a dimmer. Also some motion sensor fixtures seem to have a problem with them. I bumped all of mine up a notch -- replaced 40 watt with 60 watt equivalent, 60 with 75, etc. as they do not seem quite as bright, but other than that I am really pleased.
We use General Electric CFL bulbs. Generally speaking, cheap price = cheaply made poorly functioning bulbs. You are making a wise move, both for the environment and for your electric bill!
