Ladies, will you give me examples of what your week looks like, cleaning and grocery shopping...?
Question:I'm having a hard time keeping my house up and running well. I was fortunate to have a mother that did everything for me (sort of) but now that I'm grown and on my own I have never been good at keeping things clean, orderly and running smoothly in my home. Can anyone give me an idea of a schedule that works for them... ie.
Monday - Vacuum, Laundry, Empty Bathroom Trash Cans
Tuesday - Make grocery list, wash windows, Clean tub, Change bedding...
Wednesday - Vacuum, grocery shop, Laundry, dust...
etc. etc.
Thank you.

You need to take a look at how your week looks without any cleaning. Factor in work, school, dates etc, Then go from there. I have a young child and husband so I usually do a load of laundry every other day so it doesn't pile up. I run the dishwasher every other night also. Vacuuming I do every Wednesday. I also change all the bedding on Wednesday. I clean the bathroom every Thursday. Grocery shopping is every Tuesday. Trash is my hubby's one job he usually empties every other night. Housework is not really overwhelming unless you ignore it. The important thing is just to know that every once in a while it is okay to let it slide a little. I would never tell a friend who needed me or my daughter, oh honey I would love to play with you but I have to scrub the toilet. Just find what works for you, You will do just fine. I wasn't a neat person until I got my own place either. The best plaque I ever saw was at a friends house it read Boring people have immaculate houses.
I know it can be hard taking care of the household, as well as yourself.
I don't have a strict routine/roster that I follow every week, so long as everything gets done.
To be honest, I only vacuum once a week and my list of things to do probably isnt as in depth as yours.
Sometimes I think you just gotta learn to say 'what the hell' and sit back and have 5 minutes for yourself.
After all, the world isn't going to end if you dont wash the windows this week is it?
Ladies? You could ask the guys too you know, they aren't immune.
I know what you mean. My situation was sort of the opposite growing up. My parents couldn't keep the house clean themselves, so I've had to figure it out on my own. I've posted several cleaning plans on my website - www.todayshomemaker.com. That's what works for me based on how much time I have to clean each day.
The best thing to do is to start off with a clean house. It just feels so good to get that done. It really gets you motivated to keep it that way.
Argghh...my son just peed in the floor (we're potty training today :) Gotta run!
